Description: Vetiver is a tall grass, native to India. It is sometimes used to prevent soil erosion due to its network of roots. It is these fibrous roots which are cleaned, dried and distilled to produce the sweet earthy smelling oil. Vetiver is often used in perfumery and is a valuable oil due to its grounding nature. Vetiver is considered nourishing and moisturizing to the skin.

Bergaptene has been removed from our Bergamot oil and therefore it is safe to use on the skin in dilution. Bergamot has a light, delicate and refreshing aroma. Similar to lemon and orange with a slight floral overtone.

What is Sodium Hydroxide (Lye)?

Sodium hydroxide is a chemical compound that holds or maintains the pH of skincare products, also known as lye. In soap, it’s combined with animal fat or vegetable oil in a process called saponification.

Essentially, soap is a mixture of base oils, a diluted lye solution, and herbal additives. 
During the soap making process the lye is heavily diluted with water, and added to the oils to create a thick mixture. The mixture is then added to a mold for 24 hours to harden, and set to cure for 4-6 weeks.

During the curing process, the soap bars lose water weight, in which the sodium hydroxide is dissolved. Therefore lye is needed for the chemical process that soap goes through, but it's not present in the final product

Just short of a miraculous!

I introduced my Organic Shea Butter bar a few years ago. I created my recipe to help with very dry cuticles, dry patches, heel and elbows. Even men loved it for their heels and hard working hands. Women loved it to help with their stretch marks during and after pregnancy. It worked great! Actually better than great, but it was a slow mover. I just think people didn’t know realize how beneficial it truly was would so I stopped producing it. Then recently I pulled out a jar thinking I could perhaps use it for something else.…………………

By now I am sure that most of you know I was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer last summer. It had not reached the lymph nodes, was very small and was contained so I just needed a lumpectomy. I was lucky. Having said that just to make sure I went through 3 weeks of radiation. Radiation, of course, burns your skin and discolors it. Almost like a really, really dark tan (and I mean burned dark) but an "ugly tan" not a nice one, especially under your arms and under your breast.

Due to the burn I asked my husband to apply my Shea butter Bar on my affected breast and underarm. I assumed it would help with the burn and hasten the healing and improve the look of the scar.

What happened was amazing! The morning after the first application I could see the difference. Not only could I feel the difference but could see it as well. I thought maybe it was just me or that the lighting was bad. So I waited a couple of days before applying more. Those days with no application there was no change. 4 days later we applied it again. The next morning the difference in the burn and darkness of the skin was lighter once more. Really? Could this really be? I was told by my doctor and medical staff that the color would only fade "just a bit" over time. I was only 2 weeks out of surgery.

Once again I waited a few days and then re-applying just to make sure. Rubbing along the scar a little hard, even though it hurt, to help break up the scar tissue that was forming underneath the skin. The color WAS fading and the scar all but healed! Within weeks the discoloration was almost entirely gone! After 6 weeks you could barely see my scar! My doctor couldn't believe it and his nurses now give their patients my name so they can order for themselves. I am so convinced of what I experienced firsthand that I am now putting my Shea Butter Bar back on my website retail! I wish I had taken pics (if you know me then you know that there isn't a modest bone in my body! LOL!) but I am not sure FB would allow pics of that nature but I should've taken pics anyway for the website. To be honest I just didn't even think of that.

PLEASE share this with your friends and family. The medical profession offers you a prescription cream to apply to ease the burn but I looked at the ingredients and it is loaded with preservatives and chemicals so that was an immediate "no" from me! To use: Shake well before each use. Wash your face, chest and neck (this is best to use right after a shower). Keeping those areas wet, put 3-4 DROPS into the palm of your hand and rub palms together Start at the top of your chest working over your neck and then around your face concentrating on troubled spots such as the outer corners of your eyes etc. Take care not to get any oil in your eyes. Allow to air dry and absorb naturally.

Sweet Harvest Farms version of Lip Balm for hydrated smoother lips!

Who likes chapped lips? No one! So we buy whatever we can without really giving any consideration (or at least much consideration) to the active ingredients within. Lip Balms give comfort, and can make dry parched lips even drier. That's because most commercial brands are 75% bees wax which makes lips even drier. In other words dehydrating enough that you want to re-apply (you want that soothing feeling over and over) but every time you apply it you dehydrate your lips even more. It may feel soothing on chapped lips but it most likely creating those pesky lip lines

Winter brings the cold and damp which make things worse. Summer is not any better with the hot sun beating down and making you want to lick your lips for moisture. Your balm may promise relief but what you are paying for may not be helping the situation.                                                                                                            

Lip balms that contain Humectants such as Hyaluronic Acid or Glycerin and Bees Wax make already dry lips worse." says, Dermatologist Leslie Bauman, M.D. "They actually pull the moisture from your skin!"

We, here at Sweet Harvest Farms, use Humectants like Organic Shea Butter, Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, and Organic Castor Oil Shea to create a physical barrier to prevent water loss. We also add organic Vitamin E and just the tiniest pinch of Bees Wax (Occlusive). Humectants hold on to water, and Occlusives keep it from evaporating,” explains Dr. Baumann. "Without Occlusives, the moisture that the Humectants pull out simply vanishes on the surface of the skin, leaving lips drier than they were in the first place". It doesn't mean you should avoid Humectants in your lip balm, you just need to make sure it also has occlusive agents as well.

Then there are Cermaides that hold skin together to form a protective layer helping to prevent moisture loss and damage from cold, dry, and other environmental stressors. Ceramide also help to keep your skin supple. All the oils we use contain these as well.

We have developed a recipe that leaves your lips soothed and supple without have to re-apply over and over. We refer to it as "Lip Smoothie" NOT Lip Balm! The little glass tub will last for months and months since very little is needed. You may use a q-tip or a clean finger to apply. Can go under or ever your lipstick as well.

*Jojoba oil contain 96% of ceramides while also containing antibacterial and anti- inflammatory properties.

*Shea Butter too is high in ceramides and help with deep reconstructing and balancing of your skins natural oils.

*Castor oil not only adds shine but also penetrates the skin to fight bacteria that can clog pores while hydrating at the same time.

*Coconut oil is a natural moisturizer and it helps keep the moisture of your lips intact keeping them soft, hydrated and can also reduce inflammation caused by sun damage.

*Vitamin E (Tocopherol) is an anti-oxidant that helps to repair damaged tissue.

Our Lip Smoothie recipe combines all these ingredients that will make a difference in your "puckering power"! We don't use fancy-shmancy synthetic flavored oils either. A simple organic Peppermint/Lemongrass essential oil is just enough to  say "Hmm-mmm good"!
