Sodium hydroxide?

Sodium hydroxide is a chemical compound that holds or maintains the pH of skincare products, also known as lye. In soap, it’s combined with animal fat or vegetable oil in a process called saponification. Essentially, soap is a mixture of base oils, a diluted lye solution, and herbal additives.

During the soap making process the lye is heavily diluted with water, and added to the oils to create a thick mixture. The mixture is then added to a mold for 24 hours to harden, and set to cure for 4-6 weeks. During the curing process, the soap bars lose water weight, in which the sodium hydroxide is dissolved. Therefore lye is needed for the chemical process that soap goes through, but it's not present in the final product.

Arrrrhhhhhh Mate!

I made this organic handmade soap for the Gasaparilla Pirate Fest here in Florida back in Feb. of 2010. The City of Tampa, celebrates the apocryphal legend of José Gaspar (also known as Gasparilla), a mythical Spanish pirate who supposedly operated in Southwest Florida in the early 1800s.

It was a hit and it sells as fast as I make it so I continue to make it year round! If I was to "hook" up with a pirate, yet sensitive type of guy, this is what I would want him to smell like! A manly scent that is mild yet enticing! Oatmeal added within and sprinkled on top not only for exfoliation, but for its soothing, calming qualities for your skin as well.

Both men and women will love this scent. Absolutely dreamy!

Large 7 oz. Bar will last approximately 8-10 weeks in the shower!  Not because of it's size, but because this is a true soap. Our proprietary formula leaves your skin both soft and squeaky clean. If your "soap" leaves a film in your shower it is doing the same to your skin and is most likely made from a base or melt and pour! Yuk!

This beautifully aromatic organic soap was formulated exclusively for @campfiresandfireflies. This Orlando, Fl. based family travels across the US for 6 months out of the year, gifting their children the beauty of America and sharing what this amazing country has to offer! Please join in their adventures on Instagram!

Their numerous photos of sitting around the campfire inspired me to creat an aroma that encompasses the night air with a wiff of sizzling embers and roasting marshmallows under the moonlight! I promise you WON’T smell like the marshmallow man!

This infusion includes Cassia Cinnamon, Ginger Root, Rooibus Tea, Cardamom, Nutmeg and Cloves.

A strong scent of Cinnamon encases these soap bars.  If you love everything fall and the scents that come with it, you will absolutely obsess over these bars.  As you cannot miss the Cinnamon Scent coming from them, even if you try!  Spicy cinnamon sticks with coffee fragrance and coffee grounds as an exfoliant are just added bonuses to this Fall Soap.

• We've found some customers prefer a high fragrant smell and others prefer a minimal smell with more of a "soap" undertone. Under scent you can always find which soaps have more of a fragrant smell vs soap smell :)

What is Sodium hydroxide?

Sodium hydroxide is a chemical compound that holds or maintains the pH of skincare products, also known as lye. In soap, it’s combined with animal fat or vegetable oil in a process called saponification. Essentially, soap is a mixture of base oils, a diluted lye solution, and herbal additives.

During the soap making process the lye is heavily diluted with water, and added to the oils to create a thick mixture. The mixture is then added to a mold for 24 hours to harden, and set to cure for 4-6 weeks. During the curing process, the soap bars lose water weight, in which the sodium hydroxide is dissolved. Therefore lye is needed for the chemical process that soap goes through, but it's not present in the final product.

If you have ever walked down Madison Ave. in NY and walked past the high-end boutiques you would get a "wif" of aroma as the door would open and close. I have created a scent that is absolutely amazing!! I blended a scent that combined all the aromas you might sense in a lush green forest" just like Alice, from Alice in Wonderland, might have found on her journey. Fresh greens, soft petals, woods and musk. Very mild yet enough to fill your senses with delight!!!

Sprinkles of Organic Green Tea, this natural wonder is loaded with antioxidants and used in soap can also provide mild exfoliation and nurturing. This soap is a soft lemony color with bits of deep pink and lavender. A dizzy of colors that Alice might have seen as she fell through the keyhole!
